Apparently Being Black is "IN" Right Now, Even for the Republicans

Ok, so get this, yesterday the Republican National Committee appointed Michael Steele, a former Maryland lieutenant governor, as its chairman. He is the first African American to hold this post. How about them apples! Me being the cynicist that I am, I can't help but to wonder if this is another ploy by the party to get more minority votes. We saw it during the race to the Whitehouse when McCain named Sarah Palin as his choice for VP right after Hillary lost the primaries, and now, not even a whole 20 days after Obama stepped into office, we get this. I don't know who this Steele guy is, but I will be keeping my eyes on him.

ABDC: This was Some Straight up Bull!

How the hell could the judges give Team Millenia the boot after this performance? Compared to the Ringmasters these guys are that shit. Hell, it was one of the best performances of the night. They have consistently given us good shows. I was really waiting for the Ringmasters to get the boot. I don't want to be a hater, but they don't dance. The tutting was the only part of their set that can be considered as dancing, and it was wack. All they did was move their hands in front of their faces, and the little leg lift at 0.38s was off. I don't think that these guys are without talent, I just don't see the dancing. Boooooooo [my new favorite word]! Check their performance below.

James Toback’s “Tyson” Documentary

In the news this week over surprise engagement to a Big Brother star in the UK, Mike Tyson has found himself to be focal point again, this time at the Sundance Film Festival. The gripping “Tyson” documentary by director and miraculous Tyson wrangler James Toback (who has known the boxer since ’85) enjoyed much adoration and even a standing ovation at its screening at the festival this week.
The film is told entirely in the lisping voice of the former champ in footage culled from countless hours of interviews, the father of six recounts his rise and fall, from early days being bullied as a fat kid (“It was kill or be killed”), and being forced to defend himself in juvenile detention at age 12, to his training with legendary Cus D’Amato, to his days as world heavyweight champ and ultimately, his grisly public fall from grace - including a prison term and the infamous ear biting incident. Along the way, it’s revealed, Tyson squandered almost $400 million and lost nearly everything he’d ever earned, physically and emotionally.
