The Carter III Album Review
Posted by maLik ΙΦΘ at 3:20 PM1. "3 Peat" [Prod. by Cool & Dre] - Nothing special. He could have shortened it down to an intro.
2. "Mr. Carter" [Ft. Jay Z] [Prod. by Just Blaze] - This is the first time I realized that Jay and Wayne have the same last name lol. This one has a nice beat, clearly done by someone affiliated with the Roc Boys. Just average.
3. "A Milli" [Prod. by Bangladesh] - This one got leaked a wile back. In fact, its already on the Billboard Hot 100. "I'd rather be pushing flowers than in the Pen. sharing showers." I knew I heard this one before.
4. "Got Money" [Ft. T-Pain] [Prod. by Play-n-skillz] - Average southern hip hop.
5. "Comfortable" [Ft. Babyface] [Prod. by Kanye West] - A stand out track. Could possible be a response to Beyonce's Irreplaceable. "To the left, to the left. If you wanna leave be my guest. You can step." A nice track by Mr. West. This actually doesn't sound like a sample.
6. "Phone Home" [Prod. by David Banner] - I'm very surprised by David Banner. This track is crazy! "We are not the same, I am a martian."
7. "Dr. Carter" [Prod. by Swizz Beatz] - This one is kinda soft and jazzy. I do love the metaphor of Wayne be a doctor trying to revive a wack rapper lol. Great lyricism.
8. "Tie My Hands" [Ft. Robin Thicke] [Prod. by Kanye West] - A little country and soulful. It is good to hear from Mr. Thicke again.
9. "Shoot Me Down" [Prod. by Kanye West] - Hands down my favorite! Thank you Mr. West!
10. "Playin With Fire" [Prod. by Streetrunner] - "I get better with time, like a watch. Osh gosh begosh! Posh Spice's husband can't kick it like I kick it. Bitch! I kick it!"
11. "Lollipop" [Ft. Static Major] [Prod. by Jim Jonsin & Deezle]
12. "La La" [Ft. Busta Rhymes & Brisco] [Prod. by David Banner] - This isn't the same "La La" that got leaked last year.
13. "Nothin On Me" [Ft. Juelz Santana & Fabolous] [Prod. by Alchemist] - Doesn't really get good until 3:01 when a new beat drops and so does Wayne.
14. "Let the Beat Build" [Prod. by Kanye West and Deezle] - Around 4:01 Wayne lets loose and kills it!
15. "Mrs. Officer" [Ft. Bobby Valentino] [ Prod. by Wyclef Jean] - A nice addition to the album.
16. "Misunderstood" [Prod. by ????] - All I got to say about this one is that Wayne completely MURDERED someone [ a non-rapper] at the end! I can't wait for the album to drop just so I can see what kind of controversy this one is going to cause. Trust, there will be controversy!
Over all, the album is pretty good. I don't see the reason for all the hype [never do], but it does stand out from typical southern hip hop. It is one of the few I can sit through without skipping around too much. Look for The Carter III, in stores June 10, 2008.
Hes Right, But......
Posted by maLik ΙΦΘ at 2:22 PMOn Thursday, Sen. Barack Obama said he was “deeply disappointed” by a supporter’s sermon at Trinity United Church of Christ that mocked his Democratic nomination rival Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Of course, the Clinton campaign released a statement faulting Obama. “We are disappointed that Senator Obama didn’t specifically reject Father’s Pfleger’s despicable comments about Senator Clinton, and assume he will do so.”

Marc Jacobs Meets Andy Warhol
Posted by maLik ΙΦΘ at 11:22 PMCurrently Reading...
Posted by maLik ΙΦΘ at 8:24 PMThis book is about three inner city youths coming up on the hard streets of Newark, NJ. During their junior year in high school they all made an agreement to enter a college program that provided a comprehensive path for inner city high school graduates to continue their education and one day become doctors. Throughout the book, the authors, Drs. Sampson Davis, George Jenkins, and Rameck Hunt, chronicled their major ups and downs on their path to graduating med school. Not only are they all friends to this day, they are all doctors.
This is a story about the power of friendship. Of joining forces and beating the odds. A story about changing your life, and the lives of those you love the most. To me this book is a must read for anyone who is on the course of pursuing any type of goal. This is a book that I am currently rereading to help keep me motivated to complete my educational goals. I hope you pick up a copy and do the same. For more information visit ThreeDoctors.com.

Posted by maLik ΙΦΘ at 8:40 PMRed Light; Green Light; 1 2 3 Stop [and Listen]
Posted by maLik ΙΦΘ at 3:56 PMJohn is currently working on his third untitled studio album. Rapper Andre 3000 of Outkast will be featured on the new album on a song titled either "Green Light" or "Ready To Go". "It's going to be a surprise for a lot of John Legend fans, because it is a lot more upbeat than John is — than people think John is," Andre insisted. "I was actually happy to hear it. This is a cool John Legend song." John recently mentioned that the album will be released in September with the first single being released in May.
Usher "Here I Stand" Album Review
Posted by maLik ΙΦΘ at 2:24 PMI remember back when James Brown died. Right around that time Usher announced he was coming out with an album fall '07. He said something along the lines that his album would be more monumental due to the fact that there were only a few R&B singers left. Well, for the most part, I think it was a hit and a miss.
1. "Intro" - I actually have a problem with this intro. If he put just a little more work into it, it could have been made into a really good song. It was even produced by JLack [Usher's little brother].
2. "Love in this Club" ft. Young Jeezy
3. "This Ain't Sex" - Ok, I can see the James Brown influence on this one. This is a good dance track; something your mom could get down with.
4. "Trading Places" - When I first heard this one, I really thought he was singing to a man [hes not lol].
5. "Moving Mountains" - aka "Let it Burn pt. 2" the next single lol. This is one of the stronger tracks on the album. The video isn't suppose to premier until next week, but it hit the web a few days ago. Enjoy
6. "Whats Your Name" ft. will.I.am - This one is alright. Its another 80's track. I like the break down though.
7. "Prayer for You" [Interlude]
8. "Something Special" - Please pass the mic!
9. "Love You Gently" - A good slow jam with lyrics that mention Al Greene, Sade, and Marvin Gaye. Its a little cliche, but its Ok.
10. "Best Thing" ft. Jay Z - Sounds like something right off of 8701. Jay's verse was even kinda lame.
11. "Before I Met You" - A B.Cox joint!
12. "His Mistakes" - Ne Yo co produced this one with Stargate. Again, its alright. Its definitely a Ne Yo track though. Sounds like an old Brian McKnight type song.
13. "Appetite" - "They call me U-s-h-e-r-R-a-y-m-o-n-d", yes, this dude wants to rap again...
14. "Whats a Man to Do" - Another R&B song about a dude "Caught Up" with two different women.
15. "Lifetime" - Finally a Jlack track! I thought this dude was going to do the majority of the album. All Ush threw him was the intro and one song???! Even though this one sounds like "Confessions pt. 22", its still one of the album highlights.
16. "Love in this Club pt. 2" ft. Beyonce & Lil Wayne
17. "Here I Stand"
18. "Will Work for Love" [Hidden track] - There is a really long pause after "Here I Stand"; it should have just stopped....
Overall, I'm having a lukewarm response to this album. Not to bash Usher, but I really think that after a four year hiatus he really could have came harder on this album. I think music listeners will agree. I really cant predict how this album will sell, but we all know that the industry ain't what it used to be. We shall see. Usher "Here I Stand" in stores this Tuesday, May 27.
