Book of the Month: The Pillars of the Earth

Well, what can I say about this masterpiece written by Ken Follett? It is hands down the best book that I have ever read! This story is set back in 12th century England, and focuses on the building of a new cathedral that is suppose to be the tallest building in the world. The many characters weave in and out of each others lives against a backdrop of war, treachery, lust for sex and power, injustice, murder, rape, and chaos. Its pretty much the medival version of Crash. Even though this novel is very long [the longest book I've ever read; 973pp], its very easy to get caught up in the lives of the people Follett has created. Pillars is simply a masterpiece that could be no more perfect.
