Nooka teamed up with MTV to produce a line of timepieces as part of the Streetmuse line of products. The new MTV products utilize the styles of two Nooka timepieces – Zub ZenH 20 and Zot Leather – and are inspired by the cities of Berlin and Moscow. Gaga and P!nk had the best performances of the night, hands down! Lady Gaga is a true artist. Even though I really don't care for her music, her performances are always theatrical and over the top, which I love.
P!nk is so talented. Who else has ever sung live while jumping and flipping 20ft in the air in a circus inspired acrobatic show??? Whats even more impressive is that she never missed a note. None of the other performances stuck out to me. Not even Beyonce or Jay. I'm not even going to go in on Kanye West and his little stunt last night. It was rude and uncalled for. Even though he apologized on his blog, he really needs to be ashamed of himself. For the first time ever, I genuinely didn't like that man, and y'all know I'm a big fan. But overall the show was good, and Russel Brand didn't annoy me as much as I thought he would.
Its about damn time the folks at MTV return to doing programs about music. All the reality shows can bite the dust [with th exception of The Real World of course]. Watch Adele perform “Chasing Pavements,” “Hometown Glory,” “Cold Shoulder,” and others, with exclusive interview clips interspersed.
The kiddies are all in a roar over the latest installment of the Twilight series trailer for "New Moon". I, for one, cannot figure what all the fuss is about. The above clip premiered at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, in which the first move won damn near all the awards including best movie of the year [burr???]. I was watching the show thinking damn, this movie must be the shit; it must be on some Harry Potter type stuff. So, after I watched the show I decided to watch Twilight for the first time ever. I must say, that movie is some straight DOODOO CHEESE! I've never read the book, but I can say that the plot was pretty good; it had potential, but the writing sucks! The movie is centered around a 16 year old girl, Bella, who moves from her mom's house in Arizona to live with her father in Washington State, because her mother and boyfriend decide to start road tripping around America. Once in Washington, Bella falls in love with "the most mysterious guy in school'' and gets mixed up with high school Vampires that choose only to drink the blood of animals and can go out in the sun [where their skin glitters like diamonds]. There was so much about the movie that I could not understand. The biggest confusion came from the simplest of things such as towards the end where an evil vampire used the school's records to track down Bella's mom in Arizona when the mom was supposed to be in Florida. He did all of this without knowing the girl's name. How he lured a woman in Florida to Arizona in one night, all the while traveling from Washington to Arizona himself truly baffles me. There was even a part in the film where the antagonist magically got Bella's cell number and made one of those "I-have-your-mommy-hostage" calls with the mother on the line screaming for her life. Somehow the mother ended up safe [without anyone coming to her rescue], and had absolutely no recollection of being held hostage in the first place. Or how throughout the whole movie Bella kept alluding to the fact that she didn't dance, but it turned out that she took ballet lessons as a child. The freakin movie never explained why she stopped dancing! Also, when Bella's life was in danger she had to devise a plan to move out her fathers house [to protect him from the evil vampire that was obsessed with killing her for no reason]. She pretty much stormed through the house in the middle of the night, told him she felt trapped, and left. Let me clarify that; THIS MAN LET HIS 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TELL HIM THAT SHE WAS MOVING OUT, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, TO DRIVE ALL THE WAY BACK TO ARIZONA FROM WASHINGTON STATE BECAUSE SHE FELT TRAPPED!!!! WHO DOES THAT???! Might I add that all of this happened in less than five minutes. And the worst part was that they didn't even show vampire fangs in this here vampire movie! Over all, I was pretty annoyed by this film. I was even more annoyed when I realized that it beat out other great movies at the MTV awards, such as Milk and the Dark Knight. And for some odd reason, I still want to see the sequel. Damn the kiddies and their teenie-bopper vampire flicks!
I was gonna do a post about Eminem getting tea-bagged by Borat, but who hasn't been blogging about that? Instead I choose to post what really caught my attention, and first it would have to be LeAnn Rimes singing "Jizz In My Pants" in a medly with Forest Whitaker singing "D*ck In a Box." Classic! Last would be the performance by Kings of Leon. Never heard of this band, but it was a great performance. Thats all.
How the hell could the judges give Team Millenia the boot after this performance? Compared to the Ringmasters these guys are that shit. Hell, it was one of the best performances of the night. They have consistently given us good shows. I was really waiting for the Ringmasters to get the boot. I don't want to be a hater, but they don't dance. The tutting was the only part of their set that can be considered as dancing, and it was wack. All they did was move their hands in front of their faces, and the little leg lift at 0.38s was off. I don't think that these guys are without talent, I just don't see the dancing. Boooooooo [my new favorite word]! Check their performance below.

I absolutely must start off by congratulating Brittney Spears. She won her first moonman last night. Not only did she win one, but she got three [one for each category she was nominated for]. Finally the world got to see the adult Brittney. She was well composed and was in great shape.
But anywho, I was pleasantly surprised by the VMAs this year. I still hate the fact that MTV didn't host it in NYC. There were a lot of good performances though. Rihanna FINALLY performed with a little personality! She did an excellent job opening the show and also the duet with T.I. was great. Christina Aguilera, I must say, is the new Madonna. The woman has changed her image several hundred times in the past decade. I guarantee she will still be making music when shes 50. And with that body, she definitely deserves around of applause for being in shape so soon after delivering a baby.
Overall, the awards were solid this year. The only issue I had was with Russel Brand. What is up with that guy? I seriously don't know if that was an act or if he is just weird like that. Watching him was like watch a Shakespearean train wreck. At times I could hardly understand the dude. Also He poked too much at the Jonas Brothers. So what they all wear promise rings to remind them of their commitment to their own virginity. As Jordan Sparks said, "Not everyone wants to be a slut!"
Last, but not least, Kanye West; the man actually came back to MTV with a new song [love lockdown] after throwing a hissy fit last year. Apparantly when he said he would "never" come back to MTV, "never" meant 364 days.
The Simmons stopped by TRL last night. Jeez le weez, you gotta love this family. Don't forget to check the season premier of Run's House tonight at 10 on MTV.
Ladies and gents, I believe this is the only new show on television that features a black family in good representation. Not only are these people down to earth, but they are a shining example of what a family should aspire to be. Don't miss Run's House this Wednesday @ 10 on MTV.
By now you all should know how I feel about BET [Black Exploitation Television] and its shows. Someone brought up the idea that I should be boycotting MTV also since it is the source of BET's inspiration for its own shows. Well, I will do no such thing. Mainly because MTV is way better that its Viacom counterpart, but largely due to the fact that BET stands for black entertainment, and as a black person I find it to be a constant embarrassment that only perpetuates negative stereotypes, and that's not very entertaining to me. In short, as a network geared towards expressing Black America, BET continues to fail. It has become merely an opportunity for untalented and uneducated hip hop killers and like-minded television producers to make a quick dollar.
