The Number One Album is Still Not Enough

Congrats to Chrisette Michele for having the #1 album in America! Chrisette’s Epiphany sold 83,000 copies during the week ending on May 10. The problem is, her solid 83,000 performance would make the WORST number one debut in SoundScan history! LOL the internet is king. What artist really need to do is put their album on their website [or Imeem.com] for a couple of week before the release date so that fans can get a preview of it before they decide to buy. It sooo worked for Kanye who, last year, released just about every [unmastered] track from 808's before the album came out. By the way, Ciara’s Fantasy Ride came in third with 81200 copies sold.

Powder Blue; I'm Really Getting In On These Movie Trailers

Several Angelenos meet on Christmas Eve through chance, tragedy and divine intervention. Swayze will play the sleazy owner of the strip club where Biel's character dances. Redmayne will portray a mortician who falls in love with her. Kristofferson will play the head of a corporate crime organization who tries to convince his former employee (Liotta) not to seek vengeance on his former co-workers. Whitaker, who also serves as a producer on the film, will play a suicidal ex-priest. Newcomer Alejandro Romero will play a transsexual prostitute who shares an unexpected bond with the priest. Sounds a lot like Crash, I know.
And for your viewing pleasure, Jesica Biel's nude scenes have been leaked!

Precious

Set in Harlem in 1987, it is the story of Claireece "Precious" Jones (Gabourey Sidibe), a sixteen-year-old African-American girl born into a life no one would want. She's pregnant for the second time by her absent father; at home, she must wait hand and foot on her mother (Mo'Nique), a poisonously angry woman who abuses her emotionally and physically. School is a place of chaos, and Precious has reached the ninth grade with good marks and an awful secret: she can neither read nor write.

Precious may sometimes be down, but she is never out. Beneath her impassive expression is a watchful, curious young woman with an inchoate but unshakable sense that other possibilities exist for her. Threatened with expulsion, Precious is offered the chance to transfer to an alternative school, Each One/Teach One. Precious doesn’t know the meaning of "alternative," but her instincts tell her this is the chance she has been waiting for. In the literacy workshop taught by the patient yet firm Ms. Rain (Paula Patton), Precious begins a journey that will lead her from darkness, pain and powerlessness to light, love and self-determination.

Congrats to Tyler Perry and Oprah on their first collaborative endeavor. I wonder how they got Mariah Carey to look less divaish. And how about Mo'Nique playing a dramatic role! The film is due November 6.
